Natural Gas Amine Filter

Products Description

The natural gas amine filter is engineered to protect amine-based gas sweetening units by removing entrained solids, aerosols, and liquid droplets from rich and lean amine solutions. Designed for reliability in high-pressure, high-temperature environments, this filter extends the service life of downstream equipment-absorption towers, heat exchangers, and regeneration columns-while maximizing amine purity and minimizing corrosion risks.

Working Principle

natural-gas-amine-filter

Our natural gas amine filters employ sophisticated depth filtration and surface capture mechanisms:

  • Outer Layer (Pre-Filtration): High-capacity synthetic media traps large particulates (e.g., rust scale, pipe debris > 10-20 microns) and agglomerates, protecting the finer inner layers and maximizing dirt holding capacity.
  • Mid Layer (Fine Particulate Removal): Tightly controlled glass fiber or synthetic microfibers efficiently capture fine particles down to the rated absolute micron level (e.g., 1 micron, 5 micron), removing catalyst fines, carbon fines, and smaller solids.
  • Inner Core/Adsorptive Layer (Optional/HSS Mitigation): A specialized activated carbon or resin-impregnated core (available in select models) targets soluble degradation products, organic acids, and trace hydrocarbons – precursors to Heat Stable Salts (HSS) and foaming. This is key for extending amine life and reducing reclamation costs.

Key features

Superior Contaminant Removal

Absolute rated filtration targets both particulates and soluble organics/HSS precursors (with carbon core option).

01

Extended Service Life

Optimized media structure provides 30-50% higher dirt holding capacity than standard cartridges, reducing change-out frequency and labor costs.

02

Enhanced Process Reliability

Protects critical assets (pumps, control valves, lean/rich exchangers, absorber/stripper internals) from damage and plugging.

03

Leak-Free Integrity

Precision-molded end caps with bonded seals ensure reliable performance under pressure.

Customer Cases

1. Case Study: North American Gas Processing Plant Replacing standard 5µm cartridges with our 5µm + Activated Carbon Core design reduced foaming incidents by 85% and extended amine reclaimer run time by 40%, saving over $120,000 annually in amine make-up and reclaimer energy costs.

2. Case Study: Middle East LNG Facility

Implementing our high-flow 10µm absolute cartridges on lean amine service protected critical control valves from erosion. Valve service life increased by 18 months, eliminating unplanned shutdowns and saving $250,000 in valve replacements and lost production.

3. Case Study: Asian Petrochemical Complex

Persistent lean amine pump seal failures were traced to fine carbon fines. Installing our 3µm absolute glass fiber cartridges eliminated the fines, extending seal life 5-fold and reducing pump maintenance costs by 60%.

FAQ

Q: Can this filter handle rich and lean amine streams?

A: Yes, our cartridges are chemically compatible with both rich and lean amine service.

Q: What's the difference between pleated and depth-type filters in amine service?

A: Pleated filters offer higher surface area and lower initial pressure drop, while depth filters have higher dirt-holding for high-solids applications.

Q: Do you offer housings for these filters?

A: Yes, compatible single and multi-round housings in carbon steel, stainless steel, or duplex steel are available.
