What is Coalescer&Separator Cartridge?
Coalescer cartridge and separator cartridge are common types of filter elements. The two are usually used in combination or individually. They are both a type of filtering device. The coalescing filter element is made of polyester fiber, glass fiber or multi-layer composite material through a special process. When the fluid enters the filter element, the hydrophilicity of the material causes the tiny fluids to gather into stable large droplets, which helps to further purify the medium. Separator filters are made of materials such as metal, polymer, fiber or ceramic and are designed to remove solid particles or immiscible liquids from a fluid. The hydrophobicity and lipophilicity of Teflon material are used to further separate the fluid, ultimately obtaining a clean product with zero water content.

Composition Of Coalescing Filter Element
Coalescer wrap: It is mainly composed of glass fiber, polyester fiber, polypropylene, nylon, etc., and is used to capture and agglomerate suspensions. Different materials correspond to different scene requirements, and metal (stainless steel, aluminum, bronze) media can be customized.
Pleated paper filtration section: It is composed of multiple layers of filter material, each layer of filter material has different filtering effects. The multi-layer structure can filter layer by layer to improve the filtering efficiency. Such as activated carbon or other absorbent materials to further remove pollutants.
Support tube: It mainly supports the structure of the entire filter element and is made of stainless steel, aluminum or plastic. Ensures uniform vertical and parallel passage of the filter media. Its thickness can be made according to your requirements.
Cotton outer sock: Constructed with a cotton outer sock, felt or nonwoven material, it holds droplets within the fibers, providing structural support while allowing fluid to collect.
Composition Of Separation Filter Element
Teflon mesh: Corresponds to ①. It is made of polytetrafluoroethylene (Teflon) hydrophobic material. During the filtration process, water droplets are intercepted outside the filter element, reducing the resistance of oil passing through the filter element and improving the separation efficiency.
Plastic protective screen: Corresponds to ②. Responsible for protecting the Teflon mesh, preventing external impurities from directly entering the filter element, and providing additional structural support and stability.
Support screen: Corresponds to ③. It is highly resistant to pressure and captures contaminants throughout the thickness of the media, improving flow.
Inner frame: Corresponds to ④. As the central support, it prevents collapse due to external force, squeezing and collision. It is usually made of stainless steel, aluminum, carbon steel and other materials.


The coalescence separation filter mainly goes through two filtration stages, the coalescing stage and the separation stage. The use process is divided into solid-liquid separation-demulsification-coagulation-separation-adsorption. First, the fluid passes through the coalescing filter element from the inlet. After the solid impurities are filtered out, the small droplets will adhere to the medium and aggregate into large droplets. After coalescence, most of the droplets are separated from the fluid by their own weight and deposited in the sump of the tank. Secondly, the fluid flows from outside to inside through the separation filter element, coarser particles will settle, and the hydrophobicity of the Teflon material will further separate the fluid, and finally the clean product fluid will be filtered out from the outlet.
