In simple terms, a wind turbine filter element is a critical element in the smooth operation of your turbine.

Why Install Wind Turbine Filter Elements

One of the frequent questions that you will come across is understanding the reasons for installing a wind turbine filter element in your turbine.

There are several reasons for mounting a filter element in your turbine, some of the main reasons include the following:

· For wind turbine oil filtration

The main job of the filter element is to remove any contaminant that is present in the turbine oil.

Allowing even a small amount of impurity to reach the oil stream can cause serious problems.

For instance, friction can occur between these impurities and vital components of your turbines leading to break down of these components.

This can lead to severe problems with your turbine as well as its performance.

These filters are double-precision filter, composed of a coarse filter and a high precision filter.

When the filter pressure difference is less than 4bar, the check valve on the filter is closed. The oil is filtered through a 10μm working media and enters the next actuator.

When the filter cartridge differential pressure is greater than 4 bar, the filter check valve opens, and the oil passes through only the 50μm coarse pre-filter.  

Under normal operation the oil passes through the  50μm media, followed by the  10μm working media.

This configuration ensures that unfiltered oil never enters the lubrication system of the gearbox.

Our filter unit features a differential pressure transmitter on the housing.

When the Differential pressure reaches 3.5 bar, the pressure transmitter will send an alert, prompting filter replacement.

Protect gearbox under worst working conditions

As we have explained above, oil ensures that your gearbox and the bearings can function correctly.Therefore, it is critical to ensure that the oil is free of any contaminant.Impurities have the effect of causing your gearbox to have different rotor loads which affect the efficiency of the turbine.
