Filter Element Technology & Certification

Ayater's HFM series pressure filter features Optimicron® (ON) filter elements, the core of its high-precision filtration performance, with pressure stability of 20bar and full compliance with international ISO standards (ISO 2941, ISO 2942, ISO 2943, ISO 3724, ISO 3968, ISO 11170, ISO 16889). These standards validate the element's filtration efficiency, pressure resistance, flow performance and compatibility, ensuring reliable removal of solid impurities from hydraulic fluids (1μm to 20μm filtration rating). The element production process undergoes constant quality monitoring, with strict control of pore size distribution and material uniformity to avoid bypass filtration and ensure consistent performance throughout the service life. The ON element material is also resistant to chemical degradation from common hydraulic fluids, extending element service life in harsh operating conditions.

Flow Rate & Pressure Drop Calculation

The HFM series is rated for a maximum flow rate of 140l/min, suitable for medium to large hydraulic systems in industrial machinery, with pressure drop calculation based on ISO 3968 standards for mineral oil (0.86kg/dm³ density, 30mm²/s kinematic viscosity). The housing pressure drop (Δphousing) follows the ISO 3968 Δp-Q curve, and the element pressure drop is determined by gradient coefficient (SK), flow rate (Q) and fluid viscosity, with key SK values for HFM95 (the high-flow model) shown below:

The total pressure drop is the sum of housing and element pressure drop, and Ayater provides a free Filter Sizing Program (online at official website) for accurate system matching, avoiding excessive pressure loss and ensuring hydraulic system efficiency. For fluids with non-standard viscosity, the pressure drop can be adjusted proportionally, with technical support available for custom sizing.            
Cold Start Performance & Extreme Condition Adaptation
 

The HFM series is designed to adapt to extreme low-temperature operating conditions (-30°C to -10°C), with a maximum operating pressure of 200bar in this range to ensure structural safety. The bypass valve (7bar cracking pressure) plays a key role in cold start, allowing partial fluid flow when the element is temporarily blocked by high-viscosity fluid, preventing excessive pressure build-up and element rupture. The VD clogging indicator is calibrated to avoid false triggers during cold start-if the indicator only responds at cold start, the element does not require replacement. For high dynamic loading applications (e.g., continuous start-stop machinery), the filter element may need more frequent replacement, and Ayater recommends installing dual indicators for redundant monitoring to ensure system reliability.

Maintenance Interval & Proactive Monitoring

To maximize hydraulic system lifespan, Ayater recommends a maximum filter element replacement interval of 1 year, with proactive monitoring via clogging indicators (visual/electrical/visual+electrical) as the primary maintenance trigger. For systems without clogging indicators, element replacement should follow fixed intervals based on operating conditions (e.g., 6 months for high-contamination environments). Only V and W marked elements are cleanable-cleaning must use the same hydraulic fluid as the system, with the element soaked and brushed gently, then dried with high-pressure air before reinstallation. Non-cleanable elements must be disposed of in accordance with environmental protection regulations to avoid soil and water pollution. All maintenance tools, work areas and equipment must be kept clean to prevent secondary contamination of the hydraulic system during element replacement.

The HFM series features a clear model coding system for easy selection and customization, with the complete filter code: HFM ON [Size] S [Port] [Rating] [Indicator] 1.X/-[Supplementary]. For example, HFM ON 75 S J 10 D 1.X/-L24 represents a 75-size filter with Optimicron® material, 400bar pressure, G1 port, 10μm filtration, D-type indicator and 24V LED. Replacement elements follow the code: [00Size] D [Rating] ON/-[Supplementary] (e.g., 0075 D 010 ON/-V), with customization options including non-standard differential pressure/bypass pressure, FPM seals (V) and HFA/HFC emulsion compatibility (W). Special models and accessories are available on request, with Ayater's technical team providing one-on-one customization support for specific industrial applications.
