High-viscosity gear oils require specialized fluid handling to prevent excessive energy consumption. The internal geometry of the Ayater MF 180 has been refined using advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The transition zones between the inlet port, the filter housing, and the element itself are smoothly contoured to eliminate turbulent eddies and flow restrictions. This streamlined flow path drastically reduces the clean pressure drop across the assembly. Consequently, the lubrication pumps expend less energy pushing the viscous oil through the system, resulting in lower overall power consumption and reduced thermal stress on the lubricating fluid.

Gearbox lubrication systems often deal with high concentrations of solid particulates and oxidation sludge. To combat this, the replacement elements for the MF 180 series utilize a specialized deep-pleated synthetic media. This architecture maximizes the volume of filter media packed into the housing without restricting fluid flow. The inorganic fibers are bonded with a proprietary resin that resists degradation from acidic oil byproducts.
