It can ensure the dirty particles are retained in the depth of the media. So, the air filter element can not be clean with water. That will cause damage to the filter element. The wet wood pulp paper will lose the filtration capacity.
Last, the capacity and the working life are influenced by the working environment. If your plant is full of dust and other dirt particles, you should clean up the filter element frequently to prolong its filtration power.
