Phenolic Resin Filter Element

Products Description

The phenolic resin filter element is a rigid, resin-bonded depth cartridge designed to provide stable, high-capacity particulate removal in demanding industrial processes. Combining long acrylic or polyester filaments with a phenolic resin matrix, this element resists deformation and media migration while offering graded porosity that captures large agglomerates at the surface and finer solids deeper in the media.

operating principle

  1. Inlet flow (outside → inside): Fluid enters the cartridge from the outside surface.
  2. Stage 1 - outer spiral wrap: Large particulates and pigment agglomerates are trapped on the outer spiral, preventing rapid loading of the inner media.
  3. Stage 2 - graded depth matrix: Finer particles migrate into progressively smaller pores and are captured within the bonded fiber matrix.
  4. Clean fluid exit: Filtered liquid flows through the central core to the downstream side. Particulates are retained in the matrix until cartridge replacement.

This outside-in, depth filtration mechanism yields progressive clogging (preferred for viscous fluids) and avoids channeling common with thin-membrane filters.

Q: Are these phenolic resin filter elements reusable?

A: No, they are designed for single use due to their depth filtration construction and trapped contaminant load.

Q: What is the typical service life?

A: Service life depends on operating conditions, including fluid viscosity, contaminant load, and system pressure. Typical service life ranges from several weeks to months in continuous operation.

Q: Can I use these elements for sterile or sanitary processes?

A: Phenolic resin elements are designed for industrial particulate control, not for sterilizing-grade or aseptic filtration. For biopharmaceutical or sterile water applications, use elements specifically certified for those processes.
