How Do The Air/oil Separators Work?

Jul 15, 2022

The air/oil separator is generally composed of the primary separation of the oil and gas barrel and the second separation of the oil and gas separator.

The oil and gas mixture mixed with large and small oil droplets coming out of the exhaust port of the air compressor main engine enters the oil and gas barrel.

And most of the oil and gas mixture oil falls to the bottom of the tank under the action of centrifugal force and gravity. The compressed air containing oil mist (suspended oil particles below 1 micron diameter) must be filtered for secondary separation by the micron and glass fiber layer of the oil and gas separation filter element.

Oil particles through the diffusion of the filter media, directly intercepted by the filter media and inertial collision condensation and other mechanisms, so that the suspended oil particles in the compressed air quickly condensed into large oil droplets, under the action of gravity the oil gathered at the bottom of the oil core, through the bottom of the recess at the secondary return pipe inlet back to the main lubricating oil system, so that the air compressor discharge more pure and oil-free compressed air.
