What Are The Methods For Cleaning Coalescing Filter Elements?
Dec 17, 2024
Importance of maintaining coalescing filters.
The coalescing filter element uses the coalescing effect inside the filter element to achieve filtration and separation of liquids. When the liquid passes through the filter element, larger impurities are adsorbed or accumulated in the pores inside the filter element due to the coalescence effect, and small particles will pass through the separation filter element again to be completely separated and purified. With long-term operation, we need to maintain and service the coalescing filter element to avoid affecting the filtering effect and work efficiency. Below Ayater will introduce you to some cleaning methods.

- Soaking: Place the filter element in a container and add clean water or a highly compatible cleaning fluid. The soaking time is determined by the degree of dirtiness of the filter element. The soaking time can be half an hour to one hour, and appropriate stirring can be done in the middle to ensure the maximum effect of the cleaning solution. You can also use a soft-bristle brush to gently rub the filter while ensuring the integrity of the filter medium structure to dissolve the dirt on the surface, and then clean repeatedly until the surface is clean.
- Backwash: Backwash the filter element with water, using as high a flow rate as possible. Coalescing elements for fiberglass and synthetic media. We need to select the cleaning medium according to the degree of contamination, water is used for water-soluble pollutants or light stains, or compressed air is selected as the cleaning medium to remove dry particles and dust on the surface of the filter element. No chemicals are required to ensure the integrity of the filter element structure.
- Ultrasonic cleaning: Use high-frequency sound waves to remove dirt from the coalescing filter element. First of all, we need to pay attention to the material of the coalescing filter element. Materials such as fiberglass may be damaged, so this method is not recommended for this type of material. Ultrasonic cleaning is suitable for durable filter elements with metal as the medium. The cleaning process is controlled within 10-30 minutes, and its advantage is mainly for stubborn, fine and complex dirt.
- Chemical cleaning: usually used in severe pollution situations. The material of the coalescing filter element should be considered when selecting chemical reagents. Common chemical cleaning agents include acidic solvents, alkaline solvents, and hot water. Finally, rinse thoroughly with clean water or a compatible agent to ensure that chemical residues are completely removed to prevent potential damage to the equipment.
